76 years ago today the Normandy landings took place. It was the largest amphibious military assault in history. By the end of the day, 5,000 vessels land 160,000 troops on the French coastline, launching the push to defeat Germany.
This was a welcome turning point in WWII because finally the rescuers would come and save people like Karl, the 16 year old who was dragged into WWII against his will by a mad man who knew the war was lost but refused to admit it.
